Rates and Terms of Service

1. Rates and Billing

Hourly Rate

My individual student rate is $80/hour (1 student).
My group rate is $90/hour (2 - 4 students) for the group, not per student.
My lecture/classroom rate is $100/hour (5 or more participants) for the group, not per student. Facility use fee not included.

Travel to Student's Home

I prefer to tutor students in my home office in McKinney, TX
I tutor students in their homes for no additional fee, if they live within 5 minutes of my home office in McKinney.
If farther than 5 minutes away, I bill for my travel time to/from the student's home, less 5 minutes each way.

Payment

For Wyzant, payments are made automatically using the credit card you entered at their website.
For non-Wyzant, payments are made through digital payment apps.

Billing Increments

I bill in 5-minute increments.
Lessons must be at least 15 minutes long.
If you are not completely satisfied with any lesson, for any reason, then there is no charge.

Late Fees

I do not charge for missed lessons or late fees. I only charge when I add value.
If you miss two lessons in a row I may give your reserved weekly time slot to another student without your consent.

Rate Increases

My hourly rate is increased by $5/year at the start of each school year to account for inflation.
In the event of a rate increase, you will receive a rate increase notification at least 1 month in advance.
If you are locked in at a lower hourly rate, then I will honor that lower rate for at least 1 year.

2. Referral Source

Wyzant

If I found you through Wyzant then I must bill you through Wyzant. No exceptions.
Wyzant takes a fee for their services, which is included in my fee.
After each lesson, I enter the start time, finish time, and some lesson feedback.
Wyzant then automatically bills your credit card per my hourly rate.

Non-Wyzant

I do not use Wyzant for referrals, friends, or students found outside of Wyzant.
Post-lesson feedback via email is available by request.
I accept payment after each lesson, usually via Zelle or Venmo.
Consult with met to see my available tutoring times each week.

Referrals

The person who referred you gets either $20 or a free half-hour lesson.

3. Availability

My typical weekly schedule is:

Sun: Emergencies only (wife's orders)
Mon: 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM CST
Tues: 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM CST
Wed: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM CST
Thurs: 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM CST
Fri: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM CST
Sat: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM CST

4. I Provide

All lessons

One-on-one tutoring
Study aid handouts (cheat sheets)
Post-lesson feedback
Travel expenses to and from your home if within 5 miles/ 5 minutes.

For home office lessons I also provide

Graph/Notebook paper
Color copies and printouts
Bottled water
Snacks
ADHD devices (fidget spinners, etc.)
My stapled hand-written notes as I work the problems with you.

For remote lessons I also provide

A ZIP file with all whiteboards
A link to an MP4 recording of the lesson (good for 1 month)

5. You Provide

Agenda of what you need to be covered during a lesson.
- Typically topic overview, homework problems, exam prep, and post-test review.
After you take a test on material that I have tutored you on, please tell me the grade or score you received, good or bad.
The mobile phone numbers for both the parent(s) and student for text messaging.
